My name is Dmitry. I'm a swimming and triathlon coach specialising in open water and race preparation. I am a Master of Sport, all-Russia medallist and international competitor. Personal best over 10 km — 2:16. In Dubai I work with beginners and experienced athletes: from learning to swim to competition preparation in swimming and triathlon (Sprint, Olympic, 70.3, Ironman).
Do I need to buy anything before the first session?
No. Basic gear is enough to start (swimsuit and goggles). Everything else can be chosen later once you know what you need.
Is the water cold?
Pool water is kept at a comfortable temperature. Open water conditions are matched to the swimmer's level and weather.
Can you work with a fear of water?
Yes. Many people start exactly here. Sessions are built around gradual familiarisation and control, without stress.
I already swim but have no technique — is there any point?
Yes. Fixing technique often delivers the fastest progress: less effort, more speed and endurance.
How long does it take to swim confidently?
Basic skills usually develop within a few weeks of regular sessions. From there it's technique and distance development.
Is it suitable for adults with no experience?
Yes. This is one of the most common groups.
Can you start after age 30 or 40?
Yes. Age doesn't hinder progress when load and technique are right.
What if I'm not in good physical shape?
Not a problem. The programme is adapted to your current level and gradually increases.
When can I move to open water?
Once basic technique and pool confidence are established — usually within a few weeks.
How safe is open water training?
With preparation and supervision it's a managed process: navigation, breathing and group behaviour are all trained.
Can I prepare for a swim race or triathlon?
Yes. A preparation plan is built, covering technique, endurance and strategy.
How long to prepare for a first triathlon?
For a Sprint distance, 2–4 months of consistent training is usually enough.
Do I need to train swimming, cycling and running all at once?
Not necessarily. Many start with swimming, then gradually add the other disciplines.
Is expensive equipment needed at the start?
No. Basic gear is sufficient at the beginning.
How often should I train to see results?
2–3 times per week is optimal for consistent progress.
Where do sessions take place?
In the pool (e.g. Hamdan Sports Complex) and in open water (Kite Beach, Night Beach).
How long is one session?
Typically 45–60 minutes depending on format and goals.
Is there any point starting if my schedule is unstable?
Yes. A flexible format can be arranged and you can continue from where you left off.
